Addon: Dugie's Savanna
Author: Dugie
The savanna gains its own wildlife, building palette and places to investigate. This expansion connects exploration with practical materials, from baobab fruit and boats to protective shell blocks and bouncing platforms.

Baobabs and terrain
Baobabs come in two large forms. Plant four saplings together to grow a tree. Ripe fruit hangs from the branches and can be knocked down with a projectile. The wood has its own building set, including ordinary boats and boats with chests.

Strata forms layered rocky outcrops, while reddish Clay Loam changes the ground underfoot. Its iron-bearing variant can be dug with a shovel. Dense Dirt and Rocky Dirt provide more surface detail; sift Rocky Dirt through scaffolding to recover cobblestone. The new stone families include polished and brick forms, stairs, slabs and walls.

Ostriches
Ostriches are neutral, but protect their chicks and kick intruders that get too close. Feeding seeds earns their trust and lets you ride them. They tire during travel, so they are not an unlimited sprint boost. The birds also lay eggs. At night, watch for a spear-wielding zombie riding an undead ostrich.

Building and protection
Armadillo scutes can become roof shingles in sixteen colors. Bulwark is a movable protective shell block that resists fire, projectiles and explosions. It wears through three crack stages, with 64 durability per stage, and can be repaired with scutes. It can also be dyed and moved by pistons.

Thatch and Loose Thatch bring straw-like surfaces for roofs and rural buildings. Ruined camps and small structures make the savanna more varied and can contain useful loot.

Taut trampolines
The leather-topped trampoline bounces players, creatures and dropped items. Its bounce height falls from 12 to 8 and then 6 blocks as it wears out. Each wear stage lasts 64 uses; repair it with leather. A redstone version sends a signal when something bounces on it. Trampolines do not stack in the inventory.

The recipes below show the leather, Loose Thatch and string arrangement, with redstone added for the signaling version.
