Addon: Water & Temperature System
Water & Temperature System is a realistic survival addon for Minecraft Bedrock. Players now need to watch not only hunger and health, but also thirst and body temperature.
Every biome, block and decision starts to matter. Deserts overheat you faster, snowy biomes cool you down, water can cause hypothermia, and campfires or shelter can stabilize your condition. Multiplayer is fully supported with independent tracking for each player.

Body temperature
Temperature changes dynamically based on the environment. A thermometer appears beside the water bar and shows five states: Very Cold, Cold, Normal, Hot and Very Hot.
- Biome: the system scans around 100 block types near the player to determine local temperature;
- Day and night: midday is warmer, night is colder;
- Altitude: high mountains are freezing, deep underground is warmer;
- Shelter: a roof over your head pulls temperature back toward normal;
- Heat sources: campfires, lava, torches, furnaces and fire radiate warmth with distance falloff;
- Water: swimming cools you over time, and deeper water is worse;
- Armor: leather is best for cold weather, while heavy metal armor traps heat in hot places;
- Dimensions: the Nether is always scorching, while the End is always cold.
Temperature states
- Very Cold: Slowness II, mining fatigue, freezing damage over time and a frost overlay;
- Cold: Slowness I and a warning to find warmth;
- Normal: no negative effects;
- Hot: Hunger effect;
- Very Hot: Hunger II, weakness, fire damage over time and a heat overlay around the screen edges.
Transitions between states are smooth and gradual.
Thirst
A thirst bar appears on the HUD beside the default hunger bar. It drains when walking, sprinting and jumping. Sprinting costs nearly twice as much water, and world difficulty affects drain speed.
- deserts drain thirst 60% faster;
- the Nether drains water twice as fast;
- snowy biomes slow drain by about 40%;
- health regeneration costs extra water;
- fruits and soups restore thirst;
- dry foods like bread, cooked meat and dried kelp make you thirstier.
Dehydration
- below 6 thirst, Slowness IV begins;
- below 2 thirst, nausea starts;
- at 0 thirst, the player starts taking damage.
Canteen and purification
The addon adds a Water Canteen crafted from leather and string. Water can be dirty or purified, so not every drinking method is safe.
- Raw drinking: sneak and interact with an empty hand near water to restore 7 thirst, but there is a 20% poison chance and a brief hunger effect;
- Dirty Canteen: filled at any water source, holds 3 drinks worth 5 thirst each, but can cause poison and hunger;
- Purified Canteen: smelt a dirty canteen in a furnace, campfire or soul campfire. It gives 3 safe drinks and a cooling bonus;
- Purified Water Bottle: smelt a regular water bottle for one purified drink worth 10 thirst;
- Cauldrons: sneak and interact with a water-filled cauldron for emergency drinking, using one fill level.
Tips
- carry a canteen, especially in deserts;
- purify water to avoid poison;
- wear leather armor in the cold;
- avoid heavy metal armor in deserts;
- build shelter with a solid roof, not leaves or glass;
- use campfires for warmth and canteen purification;
- choose food carefully: melon and berries hydrate, while bread and cooked meat increase thirst;
- plan travel by time of day, because snowy biome nights can be deadly.
Installation
Download the addon file, import it into Minecraft Bedrock and apply the resource and behavior packs to your world. The thirst and temperature systems activate automatically. The page does not list required experimental toggles, so the publication uses settings=0.
