Lilium Dynamic Light makes portable light sources useful while moving. Supported items illuminate the area when held, equipped or dropped, and selected entities can emit light too. Ordinary placed light blocks retain their familiar behavior. The base pack works without experimental features.

Controls and performance

Sneak three times with empty hands to open the configuration menu, or use /scriptevent ldl:menu. Sneak twice to swap a light source into the offhand. Settings control general behavior, enabled features and which items, mobs or blocks participate in lighting.

Without Vibrant Visuals, dynamic lights are white. With Vibrant Visuals enabled on a compatible device, the pack can use colored illumination. Keep scanning and block-lighting distances modest: a block radius around 4-6 is the author’s practical recommendation, while larger radii increase the work required from slower devices.

This download contains the main 2.3.0 lighting addon. The author’s separate Extra pack adds craftable colored torches and mining helmets, but those extra items are not required for the base lighting system and are not included here. Activate the main behavior and resource packs together.

Entity lighting can react to burning creatures and other supported luminous mobs. The configuration separates the categories so you can disable expensive or unwanted effects without discarding all dynamic light. Colored lighting depends on the rendering mode; installing this pack alone does not enable Vibrant Visuals on unsupported hardware.
