Bedrock Voice Chat links player positions to spatial voice: nearby players are louder, and distant voices fade. Group channels allow teammates to keep talking across a greater distance. It also provides microphone and listening controls, individual player volume, noise reduction and desktop recording.

What you need

This download is the Full add-on for Bedrock Dedicated Server. Three components must work together: the add-on on BDS, a separately running BVC server, and the BVC client app for each player. Installing only the Minecraft file does not create a working voice service. Realms and hosts without network access require the separate no-net edition.

Server setup

First run BVC Server on a reachable host with a domain and TLS certificate. A bare IP address is insufficient. Allow TCP 443 and UDP 28280 unless your configuration uses different ports. Obtain the access token and follow the current BVC server guide for hosting and certificates.

Extract the add-on into the server-level behavior_packs and resource_packs folders. In config/default/variables.json, set bvc_server to the public HTTPS address without a trailing slash and bvc_access_token to the server token. Set bvc_world_name for the world name and bvc_minimum_players to 1 for a single-player connection test. Keep the token out of exported worlds.

In config/default/permissions.json, allow @minecraft/server, @minecraft/server-admin, @minecraft/server-net and @minecraft/server-ui. Enable Beta APIs and activate both packs in the world. Use their UUIDs and versions from the included manifests, then restart BDS. The detailed BDS add-on instructions cover configuration and connection checks.

Connecting and controls

Join the Minecraft server first. Open the BVC client, enter the BVC HTTPS address supplied by the administrator, sign in with the same Microsoft account and allow microphone access. Leave the client running during play. Client downloads are available on the official BVC site.

  • /bvc:panel opens the audio controls.
  • /bvc:mute true mutes your microphone; use false to restore it.
  • /bvc:deafen true disables incoming voices.
  • /bvc:groupcreate, /bvc:groupjoin <code> and /bvc:groupleave manage group conversations.
