Addon: Origins BE

Origins BE is a large Minecraft Bedrock addon that adds a character origin system. At the start of the game, players choose an origin and receive a set of abilities, strengths and weaknesses.

The addon is inspired by the Java Origins mod, but the authors explain that this is not a perfect replica. Some mechanics were changed to work better within Bedrock Edition limitations and to keep the origins balanced.

How It Works

After enabling the packs, players get an origin selection screen. Each origin describes its playstyle, active powers, passive bonuses and drawbacks. Some origins focus on mobility, others on water, fire, flight, climbing, combat, inventory or diet restrictions.

The Orb of Origin can be used to change a choice later. An optional behavior pack adds a survival crafting recipe for the orb.

Examples of Origins

• Human: a regular Minecraft experience;
• Avian: gentle falling, speed and high-altitude sleeping, but no meat diet;
• Arachnid: wall climbing, cobweb traps and clearer dark vision, but lower health;
• Elytrian: natural elytra wings, vertical launch and stronger aerial combat, but armor limits;
• Merling: underwater breathing, better underwater mining and faster swimming;
• Blazeborn: fire immunity, Nether spawn and stronger attacks while burning, but water weakness;
• Phantom: form switching, invisibility and phasing through blocks, but hunger and daylight drawbacks.

• Bee's Pollen Power now works with Golden Dandelions and gives saturation;
• Avian's Tailwind was slightly nerfed;
• vanilla entities were updated;
• moon checks, void death, food tags and cake tags were fixed;
• new creator checks and script helpers were added.
